In June of 1973 the women of Altrusa International of Poplar Bluff brought the Retired & Senior Volunteer Program to Poplar Bluff. Fourteen volunteers were working at 3 work stations after just 2 months of operation. By the end of the year, 107 volunteers were enrolled and serving at 15 work stations. A total of 7,657 hours of volunteer service were given during that first year.
The Altrusans had a clear vision of bettering
their community. To this day RSVP is fulfilling
that vision on a daily basis.
